The Mohanji Centre of Benevolence (MCB) in Nonoti is more than a community space—it is a sanctuary of compassion, service, and empowerment. Established on 12 acres of barren land, the centre has transformed into a vibrant hub of activity, embodying Mohanji’s vision of selfless service and inclusivity. From its inception, MCB has been a space where lives are uplifted, and hope is restored. A testament to this is the miraculous story of a young boy from the community who was born with fetal alcohol syndrome. With no access to proper education, his future seemed bleak. However, in September, he was blessed by Mohanji, and this moment marked the beginning of a profound transformation. With the support of MCB, he was enrolled in school, provided with a full uniform, and given all the tools he needed to succeed. Despite his challenging start, this young boy thrived, excelling in his first year and becoming a shining example of resilience and potential.
His journey from “zero to hero” beautifully illustrates the ethos of MCB—that with love, support, and belief, anything is possible. The state-of-the-art multipurpose hall, graciously donated by the Sibaya Community Trust, stands as a testimony to collective goodwill. This centre hosts cultural events, community outreach programs, and educational initiatives, including youth leadership training and skill-building workshops. Mohanji’s recent visit for the official launch of the community centre marked a pivotal moment for MCB and the surrounding community. His presence not only inspired attendees but also solidified the centre’s purpose as a hub for unconditional giving. During this visit, the community hall was dedicated to fostering social cohesion and empowerment.
The impact of MCB on the Nonoti community is profound. Regular feeding programs, youth engagement activities, and outreach initiatives ensure no one feels left behind. Plans for the future include expanding agricultural projects for food sustainability and hosting educational programs that instil values of responsibility, compassion, and self-reliance. The transformation of MCB from a barren landscape into a centre of benevolence symbolizes what can be achieved when hearts and hands unite for a higher purpose.
