Baba’s Boy on Divine encounters

In the latest of our conversations with Baba’s Boy, a rescuer of lost children and a true seeker, he gives us a glimpse into his most precious and treasured experiences. In part 1 of this new series, we hear about his recent experiences with his Guru, Mohanji, and with the great master Shiva Yogini Amma. In part 2 and onward you will read about his encounters with Mahanth Parameswar Bharathiji Maharaj, head of the biggest spiritual gathering in the world, and the timeless masters Shiva Prabhakara Siddha Yogi & Holy Madhevi.

The Awakening Times (TAT): How did you learn about Shiva Yogini Ma.

Dirk van de Wijngaard (DW): On 8 march 2023 I reached Bangalore to attend the wedding party of Christopher Greenwood (Executive assistant to Mohanji) and Aditi. The Mohanji-team already informed me that Mohanji had not much time at all, because he would leave the next day for a very busy tour through India and on the 17^th would be leaving for Australia. So on the 9^th  I said: “Swami I heard you’re leaving, may I have your permission to touch your Divine Lotus feet now?”  I went on the ground but he grabbed me and said: “No Dirk, I will meet you on the 12^th!”  Then He said  “ My friend Prasannan will guide you there” and he spoke to two ladies:” Chai and Lina you go with Dirk” and smilingly He said: “I arranged a comfortable sleeper night bus for you.” I knew that he 100% knows very well about my worn vertebrae which causes a lot of backache.

The Test

Then immediately I clearly remembered the backache-experience with Sathya Sai Baba! Decades ago when I sat in darshan line in  Puttaparthi I prayed in silence to Sai “Please Swami, save me from that backache?” Sai came straight to me and looked intensely (exactly as Mohanji does)  in my eyes, like He wants to say “Are you sure?” Then He tapped me, just a split-second on the head and even many nearby people could clearly heard click sounds coming from my back! That day I walked completely free of pain! In the night I thought “ God is Perfect and always perfectly well knows how to take care of His children!, so actually it is disrespect to my beloved Guru! Idiot that I am for asking to cure it!” So the very next day, with tears, I prayed in silence at the darshan field, to undo it and that I had made a big mistake!” Surrounded by thousands He came straight to me and smilingly gave me an approving nod! Then tapped me on the head and immediately I was again sitting crooked and even  could not get up on my own! Two volunteers had to carry me back to my room! And I very well understood that Sai is testing me again in the form of Mohanji! So even after decades the Guru test His child again. ( Mohanji is deeply connected with us since many lives and He knows perfectly well which treatment His child needs on the pathway to Self-realisation! Although the Divine Love for His children is One, treatment is different. Like a mother who has 9 children; she love all 9, but all have their own character, so treatment will be different. The forms are different, but for me I am 100% convinced that Sai and Mohanji are One!

The Journey

After an eleven hour bus ride,Chai, Lina and Iarrived at Thrissur bus-station. They knew a cabdriver and after one hour we reached at Valapad Beach and we met Amarsingh Kunnungal (who owns a huge guesthouse with 50 rooms and runs a fantastic Ayurvedic clinic) who gave us a room and said: “Tomorrow Prasannan and me will come and pick you up and show you around”. I had a very special feeling and asked the gentleman: “Please inform me why Mohanji send me here.” I feel something small but very holy.” He said, “Oh, that must be the Brahmathejomayam Shiva Temple of Shiva Yogini Amma here at Valapad Beach.” He informed me that in this temple there is a special powerful (made by Holy Amma’s own hand) statue, representing a small boat with a large Trishula (trident) with a snake coming out of it, which made my heart pump and I felt that a magnet it is “calling” me. I asked him to take me there but he said that this temple only opens at five. After I took a shower I called him again and begged him to bring me to the holy temple. I said: “Please sir I want to reach there at three o’clock,” and  he agreed.

When Mohanji’s friend and I reached the beach and saw the wonderful ocean it looks really as though we had arrived in paradise! Then he brought me to the temple and I saw a glimpse of the snake outside, it felt like this holy snake was also eagerly waiting for my arrival! So Mr. Amarsingh took off and at exactly 03.00 o’clock in the morning I was alone sitting silently in front of this holy temple and went in silence/meditation. At five o’clock the temple-priest named Prasad said:” I heard that you’re sitting here already at three o’clock, why? we open only at five.” I said: “please let me, it is just my habit.” This went on for a few days. Inside the temple I noticed there is a small water well. I saw that there were 10 beautiful, two-meter-high statues surrounding Amma’s handmade statue.  Statues of Radha, Krishna, Parvati ,Shiva and more. Salty ocean water is beyond this water well, but when you raise the bucket from the well it contains fresh drinking water!

I took the bucket and started to give all the holy statues a fresh bath. Some asked me if I had “permission” for what I was doing and I replied: “If it’s very hot, you take a bath or you go into the ocean right? These are holy statues; everybody touching their feet. They also need a bath before people start touching their feet so I’m just bathing them.” Then local people came and saw that I was bathing the holy statues and also offered to the temple priest to help. He replied: “You can scrub the floor.” Soon about ten locals were scrubbing the floor and Chai and Lina also joined them.  I finished washing off the 10 big statues and went outside. Then  along the highway I bought two  white squirrel figurines and I got permission to install them at the small shrine within, at the Lotus feet of Holy Shiva Yogini Amma.

The local ladies who, every early morning, were inside making the flower garlands, asked me to join them, which of course I did and I never forget their smile and laughter and we all were very happy. I felt I came home!

Manoj

At the holy temple I was introduced to a boy named Manoj. When I looked in Manoj’s eyes I said : “Do you know that Mohanji loves You very much?”  He started crying and replied: “Sir I’m just one of the local managers here in the Mohanji-organization, just one year and I like to do the selfless work at the background.” He told me that Mohanji was born a few miles from this holy temple and lived here up to his 10th year. Then I asked him what the sadness in his eyes meant! He said: “My wife passed away two years ago and our two sons and me are still in mourning.” Then I asked him what his greatest wish is and he replied: “while organizing things I sometimes speak publicly with Mohanji but I have only one wish: I want to speak to Mohanji privately!”      

I replied quickly: “ First be very clear which Guru You choose !”

(He was shocked because he also liked another guru) I explained to him: “If you’ve already accepted another Guru, Mohanji will never interfere. Please continue your devotion to your Guru.”

A day later he informed me that he decided to become a full time devotee of Mohanji. He cried and asked me to call Mohanji to get him a private interview.

I laughingly told him that I only have telepathically communication with Mohanji!  Then he asked me if I want to pray together with him, which we did. I said: “Please talk to Mohanji in your own language (Malayalam), just as I pray to Mohanji in my Dutch language. I prayed: “Dear Mohanji, Manoj has chosen you 100% to become your student/devotee and You, our beloved Swami, know the feelings even of each the animal in this world. We are just aware that we are two tiny squirrels, but please grant Manoj a private interview. Then the temple priest (Prasad) came and said: “Dirk, we all feel the  love of Mohanji in you. You even set the example of His teachings, and it is followed by so many local people who now are cleaning and helping me every day!” I replied: “Yes Prasad, it’s the Divine Love of Shiva Yogini Amma and Mohanji”

Holy Water

Then he said: “Dirk, for the celebration of the 100-year anniversary of our divine, beloved Shiva Yogini Amma on the 14^th of march, Mohanji arranged months ago, that 1008 people from all over India bring a small bottle of water from the holy ghats and rivers  from 1008 different places to our temple! Each labelled with a location. One comes from Varanasi, another from Kerala, another from Puttaparthi, Chennai, Delhi  etc. This had been going on for many months. All the 1008 (Thousand and eight) bottles are assembled here in this temple. Will you open the bottles and pour the holy water with us in special kumbha’s (small copper waterpots)?” We started in this holy temple with a selected team to open the 1008 bottles and for many, many hours we were as though in trance, we all strongly felt the Divine Love.  It was wonderful.

The Interview

Immediately after we finished this holy work Manoj arrived on his scooter and asked for me. I came out of the temple and saw his very excited face and he told  that Mohanji himself, by phone, had asked him to come to a hotel for a private interview!

I told him to go on his own, but he already had asked Mohanji for the permission for us to come together! I said, “Ok, but you are very exited now; please sit and write down the important questions you have for Mohanji, because it happens all the time that when people come close to an enlightened Master then all thoughts vanish!”

He wrote down 6 questions and off we went . After approx. 30 minutes sitting at the backside of his scooter I asked him how many minutes more, because my backache was really hurting me. Then he said approx. one hour more.

I held on to him, pulled myself together because I did not want to disturb him in his excitement. Just when we reached I asked him to help me to get off the scooter.

Then a car stopped just one meter in front of us and Mohanji came out roaring with laughter, (seeing me painfully getting off this scooter with the help of Manoj) and asked :” Dirk,  how you came?” Of course there was no need to say a word.

Manoj supported me while we walked together behind Mohanji to the elevator and I whispered to Manoj: “When we return you have to order a cab for me!” I could hardly walk by myself.

When we entered Mohanji’s hotel room there was already a small group of people sitting waiting for him. Manoj helped me to sit with him on the floor. The group sat on the chairs and after about 15 minutes their interview was over. Then Manoj told me that while listening to this conversation, Mohanji had answered already FIVE of his questions! The group left and Manoj took a place in the seat in front of Mohanji and they spoke for more than an hour. I remained seated on the floor because I did not want to show that I could not get up by myself. Thereafter Manoj helped me to get up and the backache was hurting terribly and Manoj whispered: “I’ll get you a cab”.

Mohanji came behind us and walked a few meters with us to the elevator, when the elevator doors opened Mohanji softly touched my back, the doors closed and we went down. When I stepped out the elevator my pain was TOTALLY gone! Manoj was calling the cab and I grabbed his arm and said:” Manoj Mohanji touched my back and my backache is gone, no need for a cab”

On the one and a half hour ride back I felt so fresh; no pain, nothing, just painless a blissful state!”  But…. when I entered my room in the guesthouse I heard a click and there the pain returned. Jai Mohanji!

Shiva Yogini Amma

According to the Malayalam calendar, 14 March is the official birthday of Shiva Yogini Amma, also of Holy Yogini Madhevi and MOHANJI ! Shiva Yogini Amma was an Avadhoota Mathaji born in Valapad, a small village in Kerala, she was was the 8th child of a traditional Vishwakarma family. After birth, the baby girl was declared “stillbirth”, but surprisingly after a few hours the baby girl showed indications of life. (it was said that a Yogi’s soul entered into the baby girls body). The parents named the baby “Janaki”. Her life as child was horrible, she was suffering from so many chronic diseases. Out of tremendous pain, she could not even complete her elementary education. She was a strong devotee of Lord Shiva and she started reciting a powerful mantra day and night. At the age of 20 she lost her eyesight and was totally blind. Then she underwent terrible, painful treatments. Miraculously, she got her eyesight back after two years, but her life continued with diseases such as lung cancer and putrid wounds. She refused medical medicines and believed strongly in recitation day and night of her powerful Om Namah Shivaya
mantra. She shifted to a nearby village and lived in a hut made of coconut leaves only wearing a torn jute cloth. Most of the time she was in a Samadhi (trance-like) state and in constant contact with Rishis (saints) and Devas (deities). At the age of 23 she got
Maheshwar Dharshan (Appearance and Blessings of Lord Shiva & Parvati). She served the society with her blessings and many miracles happened and she attained MahaSamadhi (leaving the body) on first of march 1981. Out of deep respect and Divine Love for Avadhoota ShivaYogini Amma the Mohanji- organisation together with Amma’s devotees, under Divine guidance of Mohanji
himself, organised this respectful Holy remembrance festival.

March 14, 2023 – Holy Abishekam

On this day the Holy Abishekam (bathing of sacred image) was performed by Mohanji together with the 91 year old Mahanth Parameswar Bharathiji Maharaj (Head of the Kumbh Mela, who as part of his Sadhana (spiritual practice) lived from 12 years in total isolation in the jungle and after 20 years of Sadhana, he was honoured by the name Maharaj), and holy Madhevi, who lived for 20 years in total isolation in a cave, without water and food. Snakes where all over her body. When she came out of her cave as telepathically instructed by Mohanji to serve the world with her Blessings and spreading the Divine Love of God! 1008 devotees of Amma and Mohanji brought 1008 kumba’s (containers) filled with the water collected from holy rivers in 1008 different places from all over India, (as ordered by Mohanji months before) to the stage. Where Mohanji placed the holy Shiva Lingam (narurally occurring object representing the highest possible state of consciousness) to do the Abishekam (pouring this holy water with His
blessings and Shakti (energy) over the Shiva Lingam, which runs into a basin.) Afterwards the sanctified water was poured into 1008 small glass jars and distributed to 1008 devotees. Under the watchful eyes of many invited holy men/holy women and important politicians, it was all broadcasted by Indian TV .
