Written by Sweety Vyas

If you’re seeking to enhance your spiritual journey, there is a powerful method that can aid you—rising early in the morning and engaging in your spiritual practices.

The period known as Brahmamuhurta, occurring one and a half hours before sunrise, holds immense benefits, particularly for healthy adults. Any spiritual activities performed during this time have a profound impact. After a restful night’s sleep, the mind is serene and calm, with fewer external distractions. The air is less polluted, and oxygen levels are higher, providing a refreshing and energizing environment. Concentration and focus come more easily during these tranquil hours. By waking up early, you can accomplish your tasks more effortlessly. The mind and the atmosphere are filled with purity and divine potential, making it easier to imbibe spiritual thoughts.

Accelerate Your Spiritual Growth with the Power of Dawn

Many advanced spiritual yogis and rishis engage in meditation and prayer during this sacred time, creating positive vibrations that reverberate throughout the universe. Temples also open their doors during the early morning hours, as they recognize the exceptional suitability of this time for spiritual practices. Immerse yourself in japa (chanting), meditation, or spiritual study during Brahmamuhurta. As the English proverb states, “Early to bed and early to rise makes a man healthy, wealthy, and wise.” Rising early offers numerous benefits.

If you are not accustomed to waking up early in the morning, it is advisable to develop the habit gradually. Start with once or twice a fortnight and gradually increase the frequency. Adjust your sleeping schedule to retire earlier at night. Initially, you may need to rely on an alarm to wake you up. However, with time, you will be able to awaken naturally at a specific time without much effort.

Life passes by swiftly, and we must seize the opportunity to deepen our connection with God. Kabir Das, a 15th-century Indian poet, and saint, wrote:

Kabir Suta Kya Kare, Jaagee Na Jape Murari.

Ek Din Too Bhi Sovega, Lambe Paanv Pasari.

In this doha (couplet), Kabir explains that there is no gain in slumbering in ignorance. Awaken and chant the name of the Lord. Eventually, you will have to sleep soundly, with your legs stretched out in a deep slumber. So why not awaken now when you have the chance? Why not meditate on God’s name?

Rising during Brahmamuhurta presents us with a golden opportunity to deepen our spiritual practices. Let’s seize it and embark on our journey with renewed vigor.

Wishing you success on your path!
